Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became head of the congressional reporters. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. She has covered several notable news stories throughout the years, including fiscal reform, the budget and The Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
